Costa Rica staff In Costa Rica, one of the first Christmas activities is the traditionally inauguration of the Christmas season at the Parque Nacional de Diversiones. ![]() Sunday the park will open to the public with Christmas decoration, in addition to offering music, adventure games, variety in restaurants, the transformation of the Old Town, decorations of the last century and the traditional games of powder in the night. The park is located in La Uruca in San José and is designed for entertainment with mechanical and aquatic attractions for children and adults. Within the package is the Pueblo Antiguo thematic area, which is inspired by the villages of Costa Rica of the last century. The old area includes carriage rides, restaurants with typical food, a farm with farm animals, houses that simulate being built in the last century, among other attractions. The park opens at 9 a.m. The entry is free, but those who want to enjoy the attractions must pay a ticket of $15.50 to have access to all the mechanical games. More information is available at 2242-9200. Another option to celebrate this Christmas is the Christmas Festival at the Children’s Museum. This year it will be held on Nov. 30. Admission is free. ![]() The Christmas Festival at the museum starts at 2 p.m. with games, dances and children's concerts and continues through the evening when the museum will be lighted up for Christmas, followed by a fireworks display. It is expected that thousands of families will attend the festival. Police will close roads near the museum at 2 p.m. to ensure safety for pedestrians. Dec. 1 the traditional Christmas tree lighting of the Children's Hospital will take place at 6 p.m.. Admission is free. ![]() This year more than 25,000 LED lights will be switched on and the gigantic tree is right in the front gardens of the hospital on Paso Colón in San José. The activity started at 3 p. m. with the presentation of the National Symphony Orchestra, a clowns show, live music and a parade with Christmas characters like Santa Claus, among others. Dec. 7, the traditional Bright Lights Parade will take place at Marina Pez Vela in Quepos on the central Pacific coast. ![]() This is a parade with ships decorated with Christmas lights and ornaments. In addition, the restaurants within the marina offer a special menu.
