transport service resume
without restrictions By the A.M. Costa Rica staff The gradual reactivation of the economic activity in the country due to the reopening of beaches and national parks, led the Council of Public Transport (CTP) to agree to lift the traffic restriction of vehicles (buses or mini-buses) that provide tourism transportation services. According to the authorities, the approval was necessary since most tourist activities are in the process of reactivation. The operators of tourism transport services must maintain the sanitary guidelines of the Ministry of Health. Transport services must follow the following: passengers must be seated, no standing passenger(s) allowed, all people who travel (passengers, driver and assistant) must wear a mask or face shield mask, and the vehicle must be completely sanitized before and after each trip. Businesses or people providing transportation services to tourists are advised to check the Ministry's guidelines for each type of vehicle by calling (506) 2223-0333. The tourist transport service has increased its operations due to the greater demand for tour operators that offer packages to visit national parks. On Aug. 1, the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC) announced the reopening of 27 Wild Protected Areas to visitors from 8 a.m. at 2:30 p.m. The following parks are open: • Marino Ballena National Park • Cahuita National Park • Gandoca - Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge • Barra Honda National Park • Cipancí National Wildlife Refuge. • Camaronal National Wildlife Refuge • Ostional National Wildlife Refuge • Las Baulas National Marine Park • Monte Alto Protective Zone • Cabo Blanco National Reserve • Diriá National Park • Coco Island National Park • Rincón de la Vieja National Park • Santa Rosa National Park • Guayabo national monument • Los Quetzales National Park • Irazú Volcano National Park • Tapantí National Park • Braulio Carrillo National Park • Grecia Forest Reserve, Bosque del Niño Sector • Manuel Antonio National Park • Carara National Park • Playa Hermosa-Punta Mala National Wildlife Refuge • Arenal Volcano National Park • Tenorio Volcano National Park • Palo Verde National Park • Tortuguero National Park Park tickets can only be pre-purchased online at the SINAC website.
