Tourism transport license

Costa Rica staff The Tourism Land Transport Certificates, known as the Tourism Transport License, which is renewed every year, will be automatically extended until 2022. According to the Tourism Institute, tour operators that have a license for this type of transport and the expiration date will be between January to April 2021, they will be automatically extended until January 4, 2022. The extended renovation responds to an agreement of the institute to make the recovery of the tourism sector easier during the pandemic. As of May 2021, the institute will announce whether the renewal of licenses that expire in that month will be automatically renewed as well. This will depend on the conditions of the country at that time due to the pandemic. According to the institute, this benefit of automatic extension of the tourism transport license was also granted this year, in which approximately 627 tour operators of tourism land transport services benefited. Next year, 1,327 drivers who offer transportation services to tourists will benefit from this automatic extension of licenses, the institute said. To obtain this benefit of automatic license extension, the owner of the vehicle must be up to date with the payments of Social Security fees and taxes to the Ministry of Finance, the institute said.
