Here is a list of in-person activities for this weekend, beginning today going through Sunday, Sep. 5. Health specialists recommended following the well-known sanitary guidelines to avoid getting infected by covid-19.
 
It’s also important to review the Emergency Commission established Alert Zones, and the driving restrictions before booking your outdoor activities.




Outdoor activities

On Friday, if you are a photo-lover, the photography club Escuela Foto organizes a tour to enjoy the views at sunrise over the Cerro Pelado mountain in Cartago. The tour starts at 9 p.m. The price of the tour is $56 pp including transportation, private property entrance and lunch. Reserve by calling 7131-7252.

On Friday and Sunday, professional golf lovers can enjoy La Iguana Open & Senior Championship organized by La Iguana Golf Club. The two tournaments will take place in Herradura Beach, Puntarenas Province. The Friday tournament starts at 8 a.m. On Sunday it begins at 2 p.m. Call for more information 2630-9151.

On Saturday:

If you like gardening at Club Parque La Libertad in Desamparados Canton, San José Province, enjoy planting plants in the community's green areas starting at 8:30 a.m. Free pass. For more information call 8389-0047.

Take an adventure tour knowing the waterfalls and the fauna in the Agres Rio in Escazu Canton, San José. The 6-hour walking tour between the mountains is organized by the El Brujo Tour Agency. The tour starts at 6 a.m. Price $20 pp includes an expert guide, personal insurance, snacks, private parking and communication radio. Reserve by calling 8894 5970 or 6127-5055.

Take some time to help clean up the Torres River in downtown San José. The environmental group Río Urbano is taking volunteers who want to help them from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Call for more information 8686-8619.

On Sunday:

If you like speeding, at La Marina Racetrack in Guapiles, Limon, you can race in your car. The place opens at 9 a.m. Entry price $10 pp. Car registration $5. Reserve by calling 6003 4739.

Explore the Corcovado National Park organized by Coastal Tours Agency. The price is $295 pp, which includes park entrance fees for 2 days, a professional guide, boat ride from Drake Bay to Sirena, lunch, accommodation, dinner, breakfast, boat ride from Sirena to Drake Bay. This weekend:

Diquis Museum offers walking tours through the archeological zone known as Finca Sitio 6, in Palmar Sur, Osa Canton, Puntarenas Province. Many tours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.  The ticket is $7 pp and must be paid by credit or debit card. Call for more information 2100 6000.

Simón Bolívar Zoo in downtown San José opens  at 9 a.m. The place is home to more than 70 species of animals and a large number of tropical plants. Entrance costs about $7 pp at the zoo box office.

Santa Ana Conservation Center, located in the city of the same name in San José Province, opens  at 9 a.m. The place has animal farms, trails and tropical gardens. The entry costs about $7 pp and can be purchased at the zoo's box office.

Lankester Botanical Gardens, a set of gardens located in Dulce Nombre Canton, Cartago Province, is open this weekend from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cover price is about $10 pp at the box office. Reserve a spot by calling 2511-7949.




Concerts and shows

On Friday, enjoy a free Caribbean music concert with the National Symphony Orchestra at 4 p.m. at the Civic Center for Peace in Pococí.

On Friday and Sunday, enjoy grunge music with the Stone Band show at Mundoloco Pub in San Pedro District, San José. On Friday the show starts at 6 p.m. On Sunday it starts at 2 p.m. The price is $8 pp. Reserve by calling 6316-3139.

On Saturday:

Enjoy the rock of the 70s and 80s with the Glorious Bastards band concert at The Whiskey Pub in Santa Ana, San José. The show starts at 6 p.m. Reserve by calling 8644-4751.

If you are a geek fan of Japanese anime and video games, Costa Rica's New Orchestra invites you to the anime music concert that will take place at the Eugene O'Neill Theater in downtown San José at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $10 pp. Reserve by calling 8455-6666.

This weekend:

If you like Spanish rock music, the National Philharmonic Orchestra will give a concert in honor of the Spanish rock band 'Heroes del Silencio' at the Melico Salazar Theater downtown San José at 2 p.m. The price of the ticket varies with respect to seat number between $30 to $60. Tickets are on sale on the E-Ticket site.

Enjoy the Entre-Danza dance festival at National Theater in San José downtown. There will be shows every day from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Entry price $6 pp. Purchase tickets on the theater website.




Museums

Friday, learn more about the culture of Costa Rica with the free exhibition "Heritage" organized by the Cartago Cultural Center, which includes 33 paintings and sculptures by 28 Costa Rican artists. The exhibition is from 10 a.m. to 4 p. m. in the Public Library of Cartago.


This weekend:

The National Museum, located in downtown San José, will continue with the exhibition “Blanco, Azul y Rojo” celebrating the 200th anniversary of independence. The museum hours on Friday are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Sunday, the hours change from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tickets cost $11 and must be reserved ahead of time by calling 2211-5700.


Children’s Museum in downtown San José, presents the exhibition "Vida de Bichos" (bugs life)- giant animatronics insects that inhabit the tropics. The activity begins at 9 a.m. Purchase the $5 tickets on the Museum's website. Make reservations by calling 7003 7070.




Movies


The European Film Festival continues at Magaly Theater. They are presenting the films "Out-mastered," a German comedy-drama starring Oliver Masucci; "Another Round," a Denmark comedy-drama starring Mads Mikkelsen; and "Charlatan," a Czech-Irish drama starring Ivan Trojan. Movie tickets are about $5 pp.

At local movie theaters, the new films playing are: "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings," is a superhero film based on Marvel Comics and "After We Fell" a romantic drama starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin and Josephine Langford.

More films in theaters are: "Don't Breathe 2," "Candyman," "Reminiscence," “Free Guy,” "Suicide Squad 2," "Jungle Cruise," "Space Jam," among others.

Most of the movie theaters are requesting the ticket to be purchased online, such as CCM Cinemas, Cinepolis and CineMark.
