Following the well-known sanitary guidelines to avoid getting infected by covid-19, such as: wearing a mask, staying 6-feet away from others, constant hand-washing, avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces, as well as taking into account the driving restrictions, here is a list of in-person activities to review for this weekend, from today to Sunday Aug. 22.

Outdoor activities



Diquis Museum offers walking tours through the archeological zone known as Finca Sitio 6, in Palmar Sur, Osa Canton, Puntarenas Province. Many tours are from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. this weekend. The ticket is $7 pp and must be paid by credit or debit card. More information by calling 2100 6000

Single Track Challenge cycling tour to Ochomogo Mountains in Cartago Province on Saturday, organized by La Ruta cycling club. The tour starts at 7 a.m. from Mountain Bike Park in Cartago and runs for 50 kilometers. Tour cost $100 pp includes: insurance, t-shirt, medal. More information on the club's website

Motorcycle ride to Jacó Beach on Sunday organized by the Benelli Costa Rica MC motorcycle club. The ride leaves from the Rosti Pollos restaurant in Dos Rios Alajuela at 7 a.m. There is no registration fee. More information on the club's Facebook page.

Simón Bolívar Zoo in downtown San José opens this weekend at 9 a.m. The place is home to more than 70 species of animals and a large number of tropical plants. Entrance costs about $7 pp at the zoo box office.

Santa Ana Conservation Center, located in the city of the same name in San José Province, opens this weekend at 9 a.m. The place has animal farms, trails and tropical gardens. The entry costs about $7 pp and can be purchased at the zoo's box office.

Lankester Botanical Gardens, a set of gardens located in Dulce Nombre Canton, Cartago Province, is open this weekend from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cover price is about $10 pp at the box office. Reserve a spot by calling the number 2511-7949.

Concerts




Alajuela Municipality band will give a concert on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Omar Dengo Cultural Center in Heredia. Free entry. More information by calling 2443-1474.

Tango show, dinner and wine tasting at the Novillo Alegre Restaurant on Friday, in Plaza Antares Shopping Center, Curridabat Canton, on Friday at 7 p.m. The show is free, the dinner price varies according to the menu. Reservations call 2234 5056.

The Rocking Crew band concert on Saturday at Puerta de Alcala restaurant. The show starts at 7 p.m. Reservations by calling 85721111 or 22677277.

Eugene O'Neill Theater in downtown San José presents the tropical music show with Orquesta La Soluciones, on Saturday at 7 p.m. Tickets for $10 pp must be purchased with the Sinpe Movil app. Reservations at 8310-8844.

Guanacaste Municipality band will give a concert on Sunday at 10 a.m at the band's amphitheater in Liberia Canton. Free entry. More information by calling 2666-4297


Shows



Harvey Wild stand-up comedy & piano man show on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at the Around the World Restaurant in Grecia, Alajuela Province. Ticket $5 pp including a drink. Reservations on Harvey's website.

National Dance Company presents the musical "20 mil metros de viaje en lata" (20 thousand meters of travel in a can). The two shows are on Friday at 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. There is only one show on Saturday and Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at the Teatro Danza in downtown San José. Tickets cost $10 pp. Reservation by calling 2295 -6000 or 2256 4838.

National Theater presents the play, "Dulcinea del Toboso ¿Herstoria?" with director Mabel Marín. On Friday and Saturday at. 7 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets $8 pp are on sale on the theater website. Reservations call 2010-1117.

 
Museums



Children’s Museum in downtown San José, this weekend presents the exhibition "Vida de Bichos" (bugs life)- giant animatronics insects that inhabit the tropics. The activity begins at 9 a.m. Tickets $5 pp can be purchased on the Museum's website. Make reservations by calling 7003 7070.

Jose Figueres Museum, in San Ramon Canton, Alajuela Province, will be presenting on Friday and Saturday the exhibition Segunda Piel (second skin) on the costumes used by actors of plays in the last 50 years. Free entry. More information by calling 2447 2178.

Movies



The European Film Festival continues at
Magaly Theater. They are presenting the films "Out-mastered," a German comedy-drama starring Oliver Masucci; "Another Round," a Denmark comedy-drama starring Mads Mikkelsen; and "Charlatan," a Czech-Irish drama starring Ivan Trojan. Movie tickets are about $5 pp.

The International Film Festival continues with a program of independent films from 34 countries in 18 different languages. Tickets are free. A total of 20 movie theaters will be screening the selected films all across the country. Visit the festival's website to acquire tickets to watch the film and reserve a seat.

At local movie theaters, the new film playing is "Reminiscence." The science fiction thriller film was written and directed by Lisa Joy, starring Hugh Jackman.

More films in theaters are “Free Guy,” "Suicide Squad 2," "Jungle Cruise," "Space Jam," "The Boss Baby 2 and "F9: The Fast Saga," among others.

Most of the movie theaters are requesting the ticket to be purchased online,
such as CCM Cinemas, Cinepolis and CineMark
