Tonight, the community club Parque La Libertad in Patarra District, San José Province, is offering night walks with tour guides for night-bird watching. The activity starts at 6 p.m. The tour costs $10 per person. Reservations are made by calling 2276-9400 or 8389-0047.

Take a one-day tour to the Dota Caverns, in the northwest part of San José Province, being organized by the expeditions agency 506-Adventures. It will take place on Saturday, departing from San José city at 1:30 a.m. The tour includes transportation, breakfast, guided walks with a tour guide to a 365-meter deep cavern and lunch. The whole weekend, the Simón Bolívar Zoo in downtown San José opens this weekend at 9 a.m. The place is home to more than 70 species of animals and a large number of tropical plants. Entrance costs about $7 at the zoo box office.
The Santa Ana Conservation Center, located in the city of the same name in San José Province, is open this weekend at 9 a.m. The place has animal farms, trails and tropical gardens. The entry costs about $7 and can be purchased at the zoo's box office.
The Lankester Botanical Gardens, a set of gardens located in Dulce Nombre Canton, Cartago Province, is open this weekend from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cover price is about $10 at the box office. Reserve a spot by calling the number 2511-7949.
Concerts and shows
Kurt Dyer Show tonight at Crowne Plaza Hotel in Sabana District of San José Province. The show starts at 6 p.m. Ticket price is $16, which includes one pitcher of beer and appetizers. Make reservations by calling 8771-6000.
Melico Salazar Theater in downtown San José will host the Festival of Folk Dance by the National Dance Company on Saturday at 3 p.m. Tickets cost $16. Make reservations by calling 2295 -6000 or 8346 2074 or 8472 3083.
American Hard Rock concert by Metal House Band. It will take place on Saturday at the London Room Pub in Colon District San José Province. The concert starts at 5 p.m. with a pre-show by Evan Williams and Bourbon Whiskey. Cover charge is $15. Make reservations by calling 6426-8302.
Los Tres Encantos Show, organized by the Children's Museum will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the National Auditorium Theater, next to the museum. The ticket price is about $5 and can be purchased online on the Museum's website. Make reservations by calling 7003 7070.
This weekend, the Centro Cine Costarricense is presenting the film, Summer 1993. It is a 2017 drama directed and written by Carla Simón. The entry is free, but make reservations by calling 2542-5200.
The European Film Festival is open this weekend at Magaly Theater. Expect 21 films from 10 countries. Movie tickets are about $5 and can be purchased online at the Magaly website.
The International Film Festivall continues this weekend. With a program of independent films from 34 countries in 18 different languages. Tickets are free. A total of 20 movie theaters will be screening the selected films all across the country. Visit the festival's website to acquire tickets to watch the film and reserve a seat.
This weekend, at the local movie theaters, the new film playing is "Jungle Cruise" starring Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt and Edgar Ramírez. It is based on Disneyland's theme park ride where a small riverboat takes a group of travelers through a jungle filled with dangerous animals and reptiles but with a supernatural element.
More films in theaters are "Space Jam: A New Legacy," "The Boss Baby 2," " Black Pink," "Black Widow," "Snake Eyes," "Carmen Farias exorcism," " Old" and “F9: The Fast Saga.” Most of the movie theaters are requesting the ticket to be purchased online, such as CCM Cinemas, Cinepolis and CineMark
