The National Theater and the Melico Salazar Theater, both in San José downtown, got the approval of the sanitary guidelines to perform for in-person shows.
"Having a guideline that allows us to open our doors to the public, without a doubt, is a certainty that art and culture have essential relevance for the way to social recovery," Karina Salguero-Moya, director of the National Theater said.
According to Salguero, many artists have been affected by this pandemic, as well as many theaters reducing their shows. This form of entertainment maintained continuity by video streaming their shows.
"With the approval of these sanitary guidelines we are going to diversify our offer and the public will gradually get the confidence to return to enjoy art safely," she said.
Among the main sanitary guidelines for allowing audiences in theaters are:
» Allowing 50% of the maximum number of people.
» People can go only with their social bubble.
» At least two empty side seats and one empty seat in front of and behind the occupied seats.
» The public must remain seated at all times.
» People will not be able to exchange seats.
» 3 hours as the maximum duration of the shows.
» The public must wear facemasks all the time.
» Crowds must be avoided.
» Online ticket sales to avoid contact with people.
» Theater must inform of the sanitary guidelines rules before each show.
It is expected that within the next few days the country’s theaters will be able to announce their new lineup and reopening.
