The country is not short of fuel

By the A.M. Costa Rica staff

There is no risk of fuel shortages in Costa Rica during this national emergency, according to the Costa Rican Oil Refinery, RECOPE.

The storage facilities located in the provinces of Limón, Cartago, Alajuela and Puntarenas have enough fuel for domestic distribution. In addition, the institution announced that it has sufficient inventory to supply the domestic demand for fuel.

"Recently, shipments of various types of fuel were received, which allow the company to guarantee supply for the next month-and-a-half without any problem for the country," said Recope  in its statement.

In addition, the institution reported new security measures during this national emergency. Among the main measures are increased cleaning of gas stations and the implementation of sanitary products for the public.

The number of people who are entering will be controlled to avoid crowds in the industrial areas of the fuel warehouses.

All drivers of fuel trucks must wear face masks, in addition to regular safety equipment used to load and unload fuel.

Fuel prices continue to decline due to the drop in demand.

"The decrease in the international price is due to the drop in demand for oil from China, plus the bigger increase in oil stocks in the US," said the Public Services Regulatory Authority, the organization in charge of approving the fuel price.

Currently, the price of a liter of diesel is 88 U.S. cents, the price of P1 gasoline per liter is $1.04 and the price of super gasoline per liter is $1.08
