The Wizard of Oz at the Eugene O'Neill Theater on Sunday By the A.M. Costa Rica staff The Wizard of Oz is a children's musical that revives the work of classical composers such as Bizet, Strauss, and Stravinsky, through history and the magical characters of the famous novel created by Frank Baum. Will start playing at Eugene O'Neill Theater* on Sunday, Sept. 22nd. According to Project Gutenberg, the company in charge of the digital version of the novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is an American children's novel written by Baum and illustrated by W.W. Denslow, originally published by the George M. Hill Company in Chicago on May 17, 1900. American author Lyman Frank Baum (1856 - 1919) was chiefly famous for his children's books, particularly The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequels. He wrote 14 novels in the Oz series, plus 41 other novels, 83 short stories, over 200 poems, and scripts. In the remote case, you have never read this novel, the story chronicles the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz after she and her pet dog Toto are swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone. The storm deposits them and the farmhouse into the magical Land of Oz. "This is a production for the whole family, presented by the theater company Luciérnaga Matiné," said the theater in its statement. "Every moment of the show is accompanied by multiple elements that will blow the imagination of the audience through wonderful scenarios." The presentations of the play will be: - Sundays September 22nd and 29th - Sunday, October 6th. All functions are at 11 a.m. at the Eugene O'Neill Theater*, located at the San Pedro Headquarters of the North American Costa Rican Cultural Center.
