U.S. government supports English
language teachers training in Costa Rica By the A.M. Costa Rica staff To improve the quality of English language education, the U.S. government through its embassy in Costa Rica and the National Learning Institute signed an alliance to promote training for the Institute's English teachers. “It drives us to do even more: from educational exchanges and professional development to research. We look forward to working with the Institute to improve English learning, for the benefit of all students in Costa Rica," said Sharon Day, the U.S. Ambassador in Costa Rica. "As we manage these challenging times, today is a time for celebration. This new chapter in our partnership extends our collaboration to improve English education and better prepare students to be part of the workforce." According to the embassy, this agreement will promote cooperation between both organizations, to continue promoting the teaching and learning of the English language in Costa Rica. Among the advantages of the agreement, teachers will participate in the TESOL International Convention, which offers professional development opportunities to English teachers around the world. TESOL International Association, formerly Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, is the largest professional organization for teachers of English as a second or foreign language. The convention will be online for 10 weeks. According to the embassy, this is another of the agreements that have been signed with the institute before, such as advice for the curricular transformation of English programs at the institute, the participation of interns in the Fullbright Program, among others.
