The Active Club 20-30, will carry out the annual telethon to raise funds for public hospitals, today and Saturday.
Telethon 2019 seeks to collect $882,071 that will be invested in medical equipment for the National Children's Hospital and the National Hospital of Geriatrics and Gerontology.
According to the club, this year the activity will be staged in the Sports City of Hatillo in San José, starting at 10 p.m.
More than 43 national and international artists will be performing during the 24 hours of fundraising day and the performances will be televised.
The theme of the campaign this year is "Together we donate life," which is inspired on the true story of two cancer patients.
One is Santiago, a child who is going through cancer treatment. He represents the patients of the Children's Hospital.
The other is Ana Lucia, a patient from the Geriatrics Hospital, who represents the patients of that hospital.
For the Children's Hospital, the aid will focus on equipment for the oncology service. In the case of the geriatrics hospital, the donation will be invested in medical equipment and the external consultation service.
During the activity, the traffic police announced some roads around the telethon site in Hatillo will be closed to safeguard the structures of the stages, the staff, the artists and the people who came to see the show and give their donations.
According to the club, there will also be donation collection centers installed in the central parks of the other six provinces.
Donations can also be made by deposits or bank transfers to the club account, 12345 2030 2 of the National Bank.
