Stop wild animals
selfies campaign resumeBy the A.M. Costa Rica staff Both the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Tourism are promoting an economic reactivation of the tourism sector focused on restarting the “Stop Animal Selfies” campaign. The campaign's goal is to develop a plan in all the Central American countries to fight wildlife trafficking and establish guidelines for tourists to contribute to the protection of wild animals by raising awareness about the negative impact of selfies and photos that exhibit direct contact with wild animals. ![]() The government aims to teach tourists the importance of avoiding taking photos with wild animals. During this month there will be a series of activities in the national parks such as talks, and the presentation of a children's book on wild animals. Dates of presentations and locations as follows: • March 6 and 7 in Manuel Antonio, in Puntarenas Province. • March 13 and 14 in Arenal Volcano in Alajuela Province. • March 20 and 21 in Cahuita Park in Limón Province. • March 28 in Quetzales Park in the southern zone of San José Province. The campaign is supported by ministries, Chambers of Tourism, and international organizations such as Humane Society International, World Animal Protection, the German Cooperation Organization among many others. ----------------------------- What are your feelings in regards to taking selfies with wild animals?
