Atlanta, Georgia-based Equifax is opening 100 new jobs in its Global Shared Services branch located in Zona Franca Metropolitana, Heredia Province.

“During the past 18 months Equifax has been implementing the largest technology transformation in the company’s history; we have rolled out global platforms aimed at providing superior service for our customers globally,” Jairo Quiros, Senior Vice President of Global Shared Services said. “The ability of Costa Rica’s local talent to adopt and implement leading technologies, their multilingualism and customer service orientation positions the country as a strategic source of talent for Equifax.”

Currently, Equifax employs approximately 1,300 people across two organizations: the Commercial Team that offers data analysis products and services to the local market, and a Shared Services organization that provides support to Equifax operations around the world.

The services are divided into six groups:

● Operations: contact center and customer service, data management, process improvement and robotics process automation.

● Sales and marketing: lead generation, sales support and telesales.

● Finance and accounting: accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and accounting.

● Technology: technical support, application development, quality, database management, systems maintenance and network infrastructure administration.

● Security: cybersecurity and fraud monitoring.

● Human resources: employee services.

The recruiting process to fill these 100 new positions in the Bilingual Customer Service area is already underway. Interested candidates can apply through their Careers site.

Equifax is a global data, analytics, and technology company that has been in Costa Rica for 25 years. At a global-level the company employs more than 76,000 people in 24 countries.

This is the second U.S. company announcing open vacancies in Costa Rica this month.

On Wednesday, New Jersey-based GEP, a services sector company announced open vacancies to its services center located in Lindora Park, San José Province.

Among the job opportunities, some positions require no prior experience and will develop functions in the areas of purchasing, provisioning, and supply chain. The company will also hire administrative and operational positions.

Interested personnel must be bilingual in English and Spanish, as they will serve the U.S. market. For some of the positions, Portuguese (as a third language) is also required.

Candidates interested in applying for a job at GEP can do so directly at
GEPCR jobs site to view available positions.

“Costa Rica has acted as a strategic country partner in GEP’s growth due to multiple factors, among them an excellent education and the development of skills for the professionals who carry out roles in areas related to supply chains; this skilled workforce is key to providing high-quality services and to delighting our clients," Diana Restrepo, Associate Director of GEP said. "Additionally, the country enjoys a privileged position within the Americas, which allows Costa Rica to adapt to the various North and South American time zones, with minimal variations."

According to Restrepo, the infrastructure and technology in Costa Rica provide great stability for the growth of large companies.

Services sector companies are a source of employment for young professionals who graduate from our public and private universities. The average age of workers in this sector is 30 years old and it is estimated that 85% are graduates of public schools, said the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, CINDE.

GEP company was founded in 1999, and currently has 21 branches in 5 continents. In Latin America, offices are located in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Brazil. The company consists of more than 3,500 employees providing services in 23 different languages. In Costa Rica, the Delivery Center attends clients located in the U.S.

As these new companies expand in the country, unemployment continues to one of the most critical issues in the country. According to the Employment Survey, from June to August, of the National Institute of Statistics and Census, the unemployment rate was at 23.2%, meaning the unemployed population reached 544,000 people.
