Public hospitals are open during holidays

Social Security confirmed Sunday that all the medical services of hospitals and public clinics will remain open the rest of the year on its regular schedule.
According to the instruction "only those employees who have requested it in advance and have the approval of the respective headquarters can take vacations. The respective management must ensure the continuity of the medical services all the time."
Only the central Social Security building, located in San José, will remain closed from today until Jan. 5. The workers will return to attend to the public Monday, Jan. 6.
All clinics and hospitals will receive patients during normal hours, with the exception of holidays by law, which are Dec. 25 and 31, as well as Jan. 1.
The local public clinics will work normally from Monday to Friday, with the exception of the holidays mentioned above.
All public hospitals will also open for the public on the same days. During the legal holidays, the emergency room will continue treating patients.
The authorities recommend that in case of emergency medical attention during the holidays, Those involved can call 911 to reach the Red Cross paramedics, who will take the patient to the emergency room of the nearest hospital.
