The Banco Nacional, a public financial institution, announced that it is in the process of designing the plan to finance the purchase of electric buses. According to the bank, they were motivated by the Government's National Decarbonization Plan to further support the initiative. The loans will offer more favorable conditions compared to a regular one, for companies that provide transportation services and require capital to replace their fuel motor vehicles with electric motors. To carry out this loan plan, the bank presented bill No. 22,540 to Congress, to obtain authorization to offer loans for the purchase of electric buses, according to Maximiliano Alvarado, representative of the bank. “It is our goal to continue supporting our clients in the transportation sector with accessible financing tools that allow them, not only the gradual replacement of vehicles but the sale of these units, purchase of batteries, installation of recharging centers, working capital, among other plans,” Alvarado said.  According to Claudia Dobles, first lady and promoter of the use of green energy vehicles, the government supports this bank plan to modernize public transport, with zero-emission buses. "In the framework of the second anniversary of the National Decarbonization Plan, we can see how the goals of this commitment which were assumed by the current administration are being met," Dobles said.  Costa Rica has three electric buses. Last week, the government enabled the electric bus route from the provinces of San José to Alajuela, as part of its zero-emission public transportation pilot project promoted by Dobles. ------------- Are you for or against the use of green buses for public transportation?
