activities after testing negative for covid-19 By the A.M. Costa Rica staff President Carlos Alvarado and the first lady, Claudia Dobles, resumed their agendas after having tested negative for covid-19. According to the Ministry of Communication, both began working from home on Wednesday as a precaution after having been in contact with a person suspected to have the virus. Authorities were alerted to the possibility of infection after the couple met deputy Wagner Jiménez during the tours they made by areas affected by the impact of Hurricane Eta in previous weeks. Several key positions in the government have had to undergo quarantine due to covid-19. The Minister of Health, Daniel Salas, had to comply with quarantine due to contact with his father, who died of covid-19. The president of the National Emergency Commission, Alexánder Solís, was also quarantined after being in contact with infected people. The Minister of Economy, Victoria Hernández, is in isolation at her home because she was infected with the virus. In Congress, recently a group of deputies was sent to preventive isolation because one of them had contact with a positive case of covid-19. For weeks, local news has reported that Congress has handled a large number of positive and suspected cases of covid-19, among employees, advisers and deputies.
