container that arrived from Colombia By the A.M. Costa Rica staff On Monday, Drug Enforcement Police officers found 2.4 tons of cocaine, hidden in a shipment inside a container that was located in a storage area in Liverpool Canton, Limón Province. According to the police report, the container was reported with a load of parts of machinery, and refrigerators. During a routine review, officers found 2,420 packages, weighing approximately 1 kilogram each of cocaine. The original route of the ship was set sailed from the Setúbal Port, in Portugal, making stops at the ports of Vado Ligure in Italy, Tarragona in Spain, Haia in the Dominican Republic and Turbo in Colombia, before arriving at Moín Port, in Limón Province. According to Michael Soto, Minister of Security, it is presumed that the drug cargo came from the port of Colombia. No suspect was arrested for the drug shipment. However, agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization will continue with the investigation to find the people responsible for loading the drug into the containers. This year approximately 15 tons of cocaine was hidden inside legally imported containers, the ministry said. Which almost quadruples the amount of cocaine seized last year, which was approximately 4.2 tons. This is the second case of drugs found hidden among imported merchandise in October. On Monday 12, officers found a shipment of 2,903 kilos of cocaine hidden inside a container with bananas exporting to Belgium.  According to the police report, the container was found at the APM Terminal Port in Limón Province ready to be exported to the Antwerp Port in Belgium. During the process of scanning the container, as part of the guidelines for detecting drugs, the cocaine shipment was found. A more detailed inspection by the officers confirmed that the drug was packed in 117 black bags. In total, 2,903 rectangular packages were counted with an approximate weight of one kilogram each of cocaine.
