-Published: Friday, November 22, 2019- Plenty of options to
celebrate Thanksgiving
By the A.M. Costa Rica staff If you did not read the last week's Thanksgiving dinners and Mass recommendations, here are more options to celebrate the day to give thanks in Costa Rica. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States, which is Nov. 28, next Thursday this year. ![]() In Costa Rica, the Beach Community Church, an English speaking Bible foundation, invites parishioners and the public to the Thanksgiving Fellowship Feast that will take place in the church Thursday. The celebration starts at 4 p.m. in the church facilities located on the road to Huacas in Brasilito in Guanacaste. Members of the church and the public in general who wish to collaborate with this activity may request for more information at phone number 8621-6273. ![]() A Thanksgiving service will be at the Horizon Church where the traditional dinner will be Thursday at 5 p.m. The church is located in Jacó Beach in the central Pacific coast. "We'll provide the turkeys and hams. All you need to do is share this invite with your friends and bring a side dish or two to share," the church said in his invitation. Horizon Church is an English-speaking congregation founded by missionaries Daniel and Sarah Barrett. They are church planting missionaries in Jaco. For reservations at services and Thanksgiving dinner, those wishing may contact the church at info@horizonjaco.org or call 8996-2685. Another way to celebrate Thanksgiving, for readers who don't want to spend the whole day cooking is to go celebrate outside the home. ![]() Today the Thanksgiving dinner will be held at the Tambor Tropical Beach Resort located on the lower Nicoya Peninsula. Dinner starts at 6 p.m. includes a welcome cocktail, waldorf salad, roasted turkey with gravy, cranberries, mashed potatoes, dressing and vegetables, homemade bread and dessert. The price is $25, taxes included, per person. Thursday the Tambor Tropical Beach Resort will host a Thanksgiving concert with singer Mario Solano and saxophonist Michael Brenes. The concert starts at 6 p.m. at the Resort located in Tambor Beach. More information call 2683-0011. ![]() Los Sueños Marina Resort issued an open invitation to celebrate Thanksgiving Thursday at the marina located in Herradura Beach on the central Pacific coast. Readers have two restaurant options there to book the dinner: the Hook-Up or the Laterna. In both, the traditional Thanksgiving dinner is offered for $29.50 per person. For reservations, the marina phone is 2630-4040. ![]() Also on Thursday the community of Germans in Costa Rica plans to celebrate the Thanksgiving dinner at Club Aleman de Costa Rica. "Like every year, the German Club offers a delicious and traditional Thanksgiving dinner," said the club in its invitation. "Come with your loved ones to give thanks and have dinner with your family." Dinner started at 5 p.m. in the club that is located in Los Yoses in San Jose. The German community also plans a Christmas Market, where the traditional Gluhwein mulled wine, Christmas decorations, food, chocolates, canned fruits and a variety of products for Christmas gifts will be sold. The Christmas Market will be open Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. For more information call 2225-0366. ![]() Another option Thursday is Thanksgiving dinner at Hotel Villas Alturas in Dominical Beach on the central Pacific coast This year there will be live music with Blues On Fire Band. Information is available at 2200-5440. ![]() Another option Thursday is Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Costa Rica Sailing Center located in Potrero, Guanacaste. The menu is priced at $32 per person which includes a full buffet dinner with all the traditional Thanksgiving dishes, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy and more, plus a welcome sangria. Kids are $12 per person for buffet dinner and a natural drink. Kids under 5 are free. More information is available at 2654 - 4300. ![]() Yet another option for dining out is at Fuego Brew restaurant at Dominical Beach on the Pacific coast. The restaurant also offers either lunch or dinner on Thanksgiving Day. "Come Join us for all your Turkey Fixings! We are roasting a dozen turkeys for the day! Stuffing, potatoes and gravy, salad, pumpkin pie and more," the restaurant said on the invitation. Fire Brew will be open from 1:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. For reservations, readers can call 8373 0635. ------------------------ What have you been grateful for this year?
