People could avoid quarantine order
when entering Costa Rica

The government reformed the decrees that allow Costa Ricans and foreigners to return to the country by air, they will not be ordered to comply with quarantine.

According to the government, this benefit can apply as long as people come from a country authorized by the Ministry of Health, demonstrate that they have stayed at least 14 days in that country, present the negative result of the medical diagnostic test of covid-19 (so-called PCR-RT) and submit the Health Pass form.

If the person does not meet the requirements previously mentioned, their entry into the country will not be authorized, the government said in its statement.

The countries that the Ministry of Health has listed as authorized are: Australia, Canada, Swiss Confederation, the Vatican, Luxembourg, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Thailand, United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, Czech Republic, Cypriot Republic, Austria, Bulgaria, Korea, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Germany, France, Greece, Italian, Uruguay, Portugal, Romania and China.

Except for humanitarian flights, the United States remains outside the list of countries authorized to reopen commercial flights to Costa Rica.

This benefit also applies to foreigners who are registered as Permanent Resident, Temporary Residence.

Also, the benefit applies to foreigners registered under the special categories of stay for a specific period in the country.

Regarding the entry of foreigners who have a first-degree consanguinity relationship with a Costa Rican person or resident as: parents of children or children with disabilities, spouses, minor brothers or brothers with disabilities, the person must demonstrate the existence of the link and comply with immigration requirements.

In the case of a Costa Rican, or resident foreigner or tourist who cannot prove a stay of at least 14 days in one of the authorized countries, they must comply with the sanitary quarantine order, the government said.
