Plate restrictions suspended today in capital
By the A.M. Costa Rica staff
Today the plate prohibition regulation does not apply within the city of San Jose, to drivers with cars whose plates end in 7 or 8, because today is a holiday, the celebration of the Annexation of the Party of Nicoya to Costa Rica.
In addition, next month, there are two days in which this restriction does not apply either. The first is Friday, Aug. 2, the day of the Virgin of the Angels, and Thursday, Aug. 15, Mother's Day.
The restriction rule was implemented to reduce the number of cars in the capital. But it does not apply for holidays or weekends.
Under normal conditions, the plate number restriction is applied in San José, Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The fine for disrespecting this measure is about $40.
