Agents of the Judicial
Investigation Organization
report that "the case of the
student arrested on Wednesday
for threatening other students
with a shotgun, will be handled
by the directors of the University of
Costa Rica* because that
type of threat was considered "a
crime of private threat.”
For that reason, the student's
name was not revealed until the
official complaint was filed.
According to the Department of
Security and Transit of the
University of Costa Rica, on
Wednesday at 12:10 noon, the
alert was received on the
emergency line of the
University, (number 2511-4911),
where it was reported that a man
had entered with a shotgun and
threatened the students of the
Association of Students of the
School of Psychology, of the Faculty of
Social Sciences*.
"Immediately the officers moved
to the place, the first officer
to arrive at the building (in
less than a minute after the
alert), found an apparent
shotgun lying on the ground,"
said the officers in their
report.
According to the Office of
Disclosure and Information of
the University, the man is also
a student of psychology at the
University.
Apparently, the man entered the
building of Social Sciences,
threatened the students, then,
before the students could panic,
man decided to flee throwing the
weapon down.
The officers of the University,
after doing research and
follow-up with security videos,
found the suspect inside the
University.
"An operation was carried out in
the three areas of the
university and the internal
buses of students were reviewed
to find the suspect responsible
for the incident, who was
arrested at the Rodrigo Facio
campus*," the police
report said.
The Rodrigo Facio campus is
located approximately one
kilometer west of the Social
Sciences building where the
suspect threatened the students.
According to the investigative
section of the Judicial
Investigation Organization, when
they arrived at the scene, they
identified the shotgun as a toy.
