German
investors will come to
the country, says
government
|

"A German trade mission will soon
visit Costa Rica with the goal of
expanding investments and
supporting the development and
economic reactivation in our
country," announced the government
in its report on the tour of
President Carlos Alvarado in
Germany.
The announcement was made after a
meeting between President Alvarado
the Federal President of Germany,
Frank Walter Steinmeier.
The German government will
organize a trade mission to Costa
Rica for meetings with Costa Rican
businessmen/women in areas such as
biotechnology, agricultural
technology, and food. The
government has not yet announced a
specific date on the arrival of
German investors or the companies
they are interested in visiting.
During at the meeting between the
two presidents, other topics were
discussed including the situations
in Nicaragua, Venezuela, the
migratory crisis and the
experience of Germany in its
attention to migrants.
The president met with Chancellor
Angela Merkel. " I am very
grateful to meeting Chancellor
Angela Merkel, who welcoming us
today and allowing us to
strengthen the historic ties with
Germany, a country that has a
partner and friend in Costa Rica,"
said President Alvarado.
President Alvarado's tour ended
with a speech at the Trade Chamber
of Germany where he talked about
the advantages of Costa Rica for
investors, as: "Strong
institutions, stability,
democracy, sustainability and
respect for human rights that, at
the same time, is open to
commercial alliances around the
world."
According to the statistics of the
government:
- The commercial relationship
between the countries began in
1850.
- Trade between Germany and Costa
Rica is valued at $542 million.
- Exports to Germany are $127
million per year.
- 144 Costa Rican companies export
to Germany.
- The country imports medicines,
vehicles; medical devices, among
others from Germany
On Monday, as A.M. Costa Rica
reported, the first day of
President Alvarado tour to
Germany, President Carlos
Alvarado, the goal of his trip
is to expand cooperation between
the two countries.
The president is traveling with:
- Manuel Ventura, Minister of
Foreign Affairs.
- Dyalá Jiménez, Minister of
Foreign Trade
- Luis Adrián Salazar, Minister
of Science and Technology
- Lydia Peralta, Minister of
Telecommunications
President Alvarado and his
delegation will be finish the
tour in Germany on Wednesday and
then to El Salvador to attend on
the inauguration of new
Salvadorian president
President-elect Nayib Bukele on
Saturday, June 1.
Also this year, the president
toured in the U.S. from the 10th
to the 15th of March, visiting
some of the country's most
important company looking for
investment for the country.
President met senior executives
from Starbucks, Microsoft,
Amazon, Virtual Human
Interaction Lab at Stanford
University, Google, Samsung,
Hewlett Packard, National
Aeronautics and Space
Administration, and the World
Economic Forum.
On that tour, the president
traveled in the company of Jorge
Sequeira, general director of
the Costa Rican Coalition of
Initiatives and Dyalá Jiménez,
Minister of Foreign Trade.
