Non-refundable funds available for technology companies

By the A.M. Costa Rica staff

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications Wednesday called for the financing of technological projects as part of the Innovation and Human Capital Program for Competitiveness.

According to the ministry, three programs will provide non-refundable financing to companies in the technology sector. The goal of these programs is to contribute to the production of technology in Costa Rica.

The first program could grant up to $50,000 to each company for technological development.

The second program is aimed at innovative projects on technology transfer. This second program could grant up to $125,000 per company.

In these two programs, small and medium enterprises with less than 100 employees can apply.

The third financing delivery program is for entrepreneurs who start technology companies. In this case, capital financing of $10,000 per person is available.

The purpose of these programs is to contribute to the growth of the productivity of Costa Rican companies, through complementary and non-reimbursable financial aid that finance knowledge transfer activities and allow firms to propose and/or launch investment projects in innovation and technology transfer, said the ministry.  The innovations can be either in products, such as goods and services, or in processes, including the development of prototypes and/or technology transfer in a way that increases productivity and competitiveness, it said.

More information on these non-refundable financing programs can be found on the ministry's website.
