landscaping zone in Golfito
By the A.M. Costa Rica staff The new landscape on the Paseo Marino in Golfito, in Puntarenas Province, was inaugurated by the Costa Rican Institute of Pacific Ports. "With the sea, the cruise ships and the Golfo Dulce in the background, the landscape has the goal that the national and foreign tourists can take photographs as a memory of their visit, with the name of the canton and with a spectacular view of the bay," the institute said in its statement. The cost of the landscape was approximately $55,000 which includes a space conditioned with 7 fiberglass letters that form the word "GOLFITO" decorated with a mural that makes an artistic allegory of the cultural and natural beauties of the region, which are then installed on a concrete pedestal decorated with dolphins. "This is a beautiful landscape for the enjoyment of locals as national and foreign tourists to take photos of their stay in our beloved gulf,” said Juan Ramón Rivera, president of the institute. According to the authorities, the Paseo Marino which began construction in 2016, is a linear park measuring 21 kilometers long on the main street to Golfito, which includes the boulevard. This project was promoted and executed by the Gulf Tourism Chamber at a cost of approximately $473,231, which was financed by the Southern Zone Development Board. The goal of the park is to have a space for pedestrians in the area, where they can reach the pier. According to the National Emergency Commission, the Golfito Canton is on Yellow Alert due to the covid-19 emergency. Only the Pavol de Golfito District is under an Orange Alert order. The Yellow Alert restrictions ordered by the government can be reached in the article "Extended restrictions on Yellow Alert zones" published in A.M Costa Rica. ---------------------- How should the authorities increase tourism in Golfito?
