New Minister of Tourism plans
to recover the sector

By the A.M. Costa Rica staff

After the sudden resignation of Maria Amalia Revelo on Wednesday due to health problems, the government announced Gustavo Segura-Sancho as the new minister.

In June, the government announced that Revelo had undergone surgery and will be continuing medical treatment.

Segura, the new president of the Tourism Institute and Minister, did not waste any time and announced his plan to stimulate the sector despite the health crisis caused by covid-19.

"I have humbly and very honestly accepted to serve the country, in extremely complex circumstances for Costa Rica, and in particular for the tourism industry," he said.

The new tourism recovery plan will be based on the gradual opening of international flights, the implementation of financial support for companies and other actions for the economic improvement of the country, said the government in its statement.

According to Segura, Costa Rica must remain in the medium and long period as a leading player in tourism.

What should the new minister do to reactivate the tourism sector?
