manufacturing and food exporter company,
invested $350,000 in its new plant in Pococí
Canton, Limón Province, where it will
produce dehydrated pineapple for exporting.
According to the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency, CINDE, the company plans to invest another $250,000 between January and February for further developing its operations. ![]() In the last five years, the employment generated by food exporters companies located outside the GMA has had an average annual growth of 15%, CINDE said in its statement. The Greater Metropolitan Area, GAM, is the zone made up of cities in the outskirts of San José such as Alajuela, Heredia and Cartago. “We have chosen Costa Rica as a key country to start our expansion outside of Mexico due to various reasons; one of them is its widely recognized pineapple quality and the availability of raw material throughout the year," Francisco López-Lee, director of Instantia Costa Rica said. "Likewise, to the existence of regimes that support the establishment of companies that wish to invest in the country, therefore, we will have a social impact on the community where the plant has established.” Currently, the company is creating linkages to buy organic fruit from local producers. All the products will be exported to Mexico. The next phase is to process bananas. The company will hire about 30 employees among operators and administrative staff.
