Los Chiles Canton,  located in the northern border with Nicaragua, in Alajuela Province, was visited by a group of 16 representatives of wholesale travel agencies and international operators to promote the place in the United States and Canada, announced the Tourism Institute.

According to the institute, the canton can be promoted as a destination for both national and international tourism.

Among the tourist services developed in the northern zone canton are boat tours along Frío River, tours in Caño Negro National Wildlife Refuge and the Medio Queso Wetland.

Other tourist attractions are sport fishing, day and night trail tours, guided horseback riding, touring pineapple plantations, touring sugar cane farms, touring in organic chocolate farms, among others.

According to the institute, a canton is a favorite place for bird watching and visiting butterfly farms. As well as tasting traditional meals such as smoked pork, and fresh fish dishes, among others.

"We are offering for visitors, a natural place to recharge their energy, alternatives to stay, walk, eat, but above all a unique experience," Fernando Sandí, President of the Los Chiles Chamber of Tourism and Commerce said. "This destination offers the ideal setting to reconnect with nature."

The chamber has 70 members, most of them are entrepreneurs of tour services.
