The Japan-headquartered company Hitachi, a global cloud-services systems integrator firm specializing in Microsoft business applications and technologies, announced its expansion of operation in Costa Rica. 

According to the company, this expansion supports its growth strategy. It leverages the diverse IT talent pool in Latin America further adding to our diverse portfolio of services from its facilities located in the Trilogía Building in Escazú Canton, San José. 

"The decision to extend our capabilities into Latin America is a necessary next step in our business growth strategy," said Jerry Hawk, chief operating officer of Hitachi Solutions America, Ltd. “This unique opportunity to further accelerate our advisory and solution services business in an area rich in untapped talent will strengthen Hitachi Solutions’ global footprint and help us better meet our customers’ needs.”

The firm goal is to strive to support their customers’ strategic business initiatives as they modernize data and operations to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and elevate their service and overall experience. 

The company is actively hiring in Costa Rica for positions such as Project Managers, Developers, and Architects, among others. Those interested in applying can visit the Hitachi careers website.

Even though new businesses are creating jobs, the unemployment rate remains at 10.6%, according to the National Employment Survey. The data recorded from January to March 2023, shows that there are more than 249,000 people without registered jobs. Of these, 129,000 are women, making up 51% of unemployed people in the country.

Hitachi is one of many international firms investing in Costa Rica. Last week, the Pennsylvania, U.S. headquartered healthcare factory, TekniPlex, announced the expansion of its production of medical tubing extrusion lines along with downstream equipment in its facility in Cartago Province.
