In just one month, 160 Costa Rican tourism companies, six associations, and tourism chambers were recognized as Safe Travels locations by the World Travel and Tourism Council, WTTC, the Tourism Institute announced on Tuesday.

The seal is free for all companies committed to the fight against covid-19 by allowing tourists to recognize that the place follows the sanitizing guidelines for the care of visitors, the institute said.

“The notorious and growing interest in the Safe Travels Seal is the response we hope for the private sector to ensure compliance with health guidelines, essential to protect the employment generated by the tourism industry,” Gustavo Segura, Minister of Tourism said.

The Costa Rican tourism companies that have the seal are such as hotels, travel agencies, water transport, wellness tourism, land transport, thematic parks, tour operators, vehicle rentals, congress and convention facilities, adventure tourism companies, among many others.

Also, more chambers and associations of tourism are recognized with the seal, such as the National Association of Congresses and Conventions, the Limón Chamber of Commerce, Monteverde Chamber of Tourism, Puntarenas Chamber of Tourism, the Costa Rican Association of Tour Operators, the Association for the Development of Commerce and Tourism of La Cruz in Guanacaste, among others.

These organizations can also grant the seal to their affiliates with the aim of expanding this credit to the largest number of companies, as long as they meet the health guidelines.

To obtain the seal, companies or entrepreneurs must fill out the form published on the institute's website. Then, representatives of the institute would visit the company to verify compliance with the sanitary guidelines.

According to the institute, in addition to Costa Rica, countries such as Panama, Aruba, Portugal, Dubai, Paris, Madrid, Mexico; among many others, use the Safe Travels Seal.
