Government open $2.2 million-plus gym bid for intellectual and physical disabilities athletes

The Sports Institute announced the opening of a bid to choose the company in charge of building the first National Gym in the country for athletes with intellectual and physical disabilities, valued at $2,276,507.
According to Hernán Solano-Venegas, Minister of Sports, detailed information about the contest was published in the Integrated Public Procurement System, Sicop, which is the online system of the government to publish the open bids of services or purchases. The new National Gym will be built within the area of Parque de la Paz, located in San José Province. And must comply with the conditions established by the Special Olympics Association Costa Rica.
It should also include an open area of 800 square meters for the practice of outdoor sports, such as handball, basketball, volleyball, among others.
The sports complex must have a structure that guarantees comfortable and safe access for people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
It must also have a security area, bleachers, dressing rooms, health services, a nursery, storage room, training rooms, administrative office, dining room, among other sections.
