Government gets pre-approval
to enter the OECD

By the A.M. Costa Rica staff

The Committee for Economic Analysis and Development of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, OECD, announced the approval of the studies done in Costa Rica.

With the approval of this Committee, the country completed the 22 evaluations required to complete the OECD entry process, said the government in its statement.

According to the government, this committee issued the approval of the changes on Tuesday of the recommendations made by the organisation since 2016.

The next step is the analysis that the OECD Council will do, which in the coming months will have to decide to accept or deny the country as a member of the organization.

According to the government, the OECD aims to improve the economic performance of member countries based on three central elements: macroeconomic and fiscal stability; policies aimed at inclusion, and strengthening the economy.

For this reason, every two years the member countries of the organization undergo an evaluation by this committee. This allows them to identify adjustment needs and areas for improvement in economic and social policies, said the government.
