The Ministry of Sports announced the plan, "Let's Climb as a Team" which is focused on encouraging young people to practice more sports.

According to Hernán Solano-Venegas, Minister of Sports, the plan includes a wide variety of sports activities that will be developed in the country to reach more than 4,000 people in one year.

Among the free sports activities that will be promoted in the communities are: swimming, surfing, volleyball, Judo, baseball, soccer, boxing, tennis, stand up paddle, among many others.

With the cooperation of municipalities and community sports organizations, the schedule and locations where sports activities will take place will soon be released.

A similar plan was developed this month by the Surf Federation to provide free beach sports lessons to young people.

According to the federation, more than 1,600 people received lessons in various types of sports such as surfing, balance boarding, volleyball, skimboarding, among others on the main beaches of the country.

Free lessons were held from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on the beaches of Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Esterillos, Cieneguita, Boca Barranca, Herradura, Isla Venado, Caldera, La Florida, Cóbano, Montezuma, among many others.

From Jan. 18 to 24, all sports clubs reached their maximum capacity, taking into account that lessons must follow the health guidelines such as attending social bubbles in small groups.

“All the guidelines have complied as it was established by the authorities, which has motivated other Cantonal Sports Committees and local organizations from other areas of the country to join in future editions,” Randall Chaves, president of the Federation said.
