Since the beginning of President Carlos Alvarado's administration, in May 2018, about $564.8 million have been budgeted to provide a home for impoverished families, according to the report of the Housing Mortgage Bank, BANHVI.
However, the nationality of the beneficiaries of those houses or aid bonuses were not provided by the government. The report figures 37,472 families in extreme poverty received a house in the past three years, from May 2018 to May 2021. Of these families, 65% produce a monthly income less than or equal to $450.
In addition, some of the people who have received a house or financial aid to repair their homes, through the so-called Housing Bonus, are mainly families who live in precarious houses or sharing rooms with other relatives. Among these are 23,005 women who are the only income providers in their homes. Of these, the majority lived in extreme poverty, risk, or overcrowding places.

Another vulnerable group that received home is the elderly. During the same period, 2,030 seniors, over 65, received the aid bonus or a house.
In addition, during the same period, aid was provided to 1,123 families that have a member with some type of disability.
Another group of people considered to be in extreme poverty that received housing aid was the Indigenous Territories, where 1,014 houses were built during the same period.
