This past year, 22,672 independent entrepreneurs and business owners from the tourism sector have received virtual training on health security and tourism learning, according to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute

Starting May 2020, the Institute provides to tourism industry professionals free career courses on topics such as sanitary guideline measures, improving productive activities, tourist activities, hotel reception, first aid, English language learning, bird watch tourism, educational tourism, whale watching, marketing and rural tourism, among others.

"The goal of the platform is to offer information, training actions for the tourism sector, providing tools that enable tourism professionals to reactivate their business," said Ruth Alfaro,  Institute representative.

According to data collected by the institute, 95% of the people who received the training said that their goals were achieved. Another 97% said that the topics helped them improve their knowledge in the industry. Also, 97.5% applied the learned techniques to their companies.  And 97% would recommend these activities to other people.
