Last week, the mayors of the municipalities of coastal areas, agreed at the Municipal Advisory Institute, a commitment to increase control and surveillance in compliance with sanitary measures to avoid an increase in the contagion of covid-19 as a cause of increasing crowds visiting beaches.
"If we do not keep the pandemic under control, the consequences could be seen throughout the high season of tourism to all beaches throughout the country," Patricio Morera, representative of the institute said.
The agreement allows keeping the beaches open from 5:30 a.m. and until 6:00 p.m. This is an additional three hours of access previously ordered by the National Commission Emergency.
According to the institute, the new beach hours will continue until Jan. 31. After that they will evaluate the virus contagion development in the country.
