A man of Dutch nationality was detained by officials of the Municipality of San José Province as a suspect of false documents and having a warrant alert from International Police, Interpol. According to the police report, the case began on Saturday during a routine patrolling road control operation, when the officers asked the man for his ID. It was then that the officers realized that the documents provided by the man seemed to be false. Following the guidelines for suspecting false documents, the police reviewed the identification with the Migration database and found that it could be a case of false identification. In addition, the police find the man does not have a record of entering Costa Rica. The man was detained and handed over to the General Directorate of Migration police. After a more detailed investigation of the suspect, the officers found an international arrest warrant against the suspect requested by Interpol. According to the police, "Interpol registers an alert against the suspect for organized crime, human trafficking and international drug traffic." The man, whose name was not revealed by the police, was taken to the cells of the Migration Police, where he must wait for a judge to issue the extradition order against him.  According to the General Directorate of Migration, during this year, 17 foreigners have been expelled from the country as suspects of association with the Mara Salvatrucha, MS13, gang.  In April, Migration extradited to the United States two men, Jamaican Citizens, who are the subjects of an open investigation for fraud.  In February, Interpol arrested a Croatian citizen who has an arrest warrant in his country for being linked to drug trafficking.
