By the A.M. Costa Rica staff Officers of the Juan Santamarķa International Airport, arrested a Ukrainian man, surnamed Vasly, 44, as a cocaine trafficking suspect. According to the police report, the case began during a routine check of the traveler's luggage who was leaving the country. Vasly had entered the country on June 3 and had planned to travel to France on Aug. 18, the police said. At the airport, officers requested for a more detailed inspection of the contents of his luggage. Allegedly during the search, the officers detected that Vasly had several capsules inside his body. Following the guideline in cases of suspected drug trafficking, the man was detained at the airport. Then, the man faced a treatment process to get the drug out of his body. The drug control police were in charge of analyzing the content of the 37 capsule's, containing 445 grams of cocaine. The suspect was taken to the jail of the Public Ministry where he was interrogated by agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization. He is waiting for a judge to order pre-trial measures against him for the charge of drug trafficking. ![]() Detecting suspected drug traffickers is a top job of officers at the airport.
