Agents of the International Police, Interpol, conferred to officers of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA, a man of Colombian nationality, surnamed Nuñez, 54.

Nuñez's extradition process to the United States was approved by a judge in Costa Rica. The suspect was released to authorities on suspicion of a drug trafficking crime.

According to the case, the man entered Costa Rica illegally and was detained after an international arrest warrant was issued by the government of Colombia.

Nuñez was arrested in January in Tibas Canton, San José Province, after being investigated by agents of the Judicial Investigation Organization. His international arrest warrant was approved by the San José Criminal Court in December 2020.

Núñez was jailed for nine months until the extradition process to the United States was completed.

The man is now accused of drug trafficking in the United States. Allegedly, he made several drug deliveries from Colombia and Ecuador to the U.S.

Recently, a U.S. citizen resident in Costa Rica was found guilty in the U.S. of 22 felonies.
