Finance Ministry Specialists are solving taxpayers doubts in some municipalities

If you have any questions about the new taxes or how to fill out the new tax forms, this information may be helpful.

The Ministry of Finance is developing an informational campaign for the implementation of Law No. 9635, known as the Law for the Strengthening of Public Finances.

This campaign consists of erecting stands in some communities, where officials will answer questions from the public about the new taxes or the proper way to fill out the new forms.

"This is an elaborate plan to guide the taxpayer and inform any citizen that has an interest, about the voluntary fulfillment of tax duties," said Carlos Vargas, of Tax Department. "Specialists from all our administration's will directly address citizen concerns."

In addition, the specialists will go to the stores or companies that are in the nearest areas, with the goal of "providing adequate guidance service to taxpayers," said the Ministry in its statement.

Information services will be given by duly identified specialists, during the rest of this month and September.

Attention to taxpayers will be given from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 3 pm, in positions located in the municipalities of Zarcero, Los Chiles, Guatuso, Sarapiqui, San Carlos, Matina, Pocofi, Siquirres, Guacimo, Limon, San Jose, Escazu, Puriscal, Mora, Santa Ana, among others.

The Ministry warns the public that employees or specialists are not requesting bank account numbers or passwords. These specialists will only answer questions about the new procedures related to taxes.

If someone receives a call, from an alleged worker or representative of the Ministry, requesting bank account information or access to computers, it is a possible scam. In this case, it is recommended to cut the call and "make a complaint to the Judicial Investigation Organization at line 800-8000-645," said the Ministry in its statement.

The tax specialists can only answer queries in Spanish.
