July 4th is almost upon us! We decided to live in Costa Rica, but that doesn't mean giving up our traditions. Let's celebrate the United States Independence Day with the best American style grilling and festivities with plenty of red, white and blue!
So, let's grill!
For six hamburgers, the ingredients you need are:
• 2 pounds of freshly ground chuck.
• 1 tablespoon of onion powder.
• 1 teaspoon of salt.
• 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper.
• 12 slices of American cheese.
• 6 large burger buns.
• sliced red onion.
• sliced tomatoes.
• sliced pickles.
• fresh lettuce leaves.
• To garnish, use your favorite, ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard.
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, onion powder, salt and pepper until combined.
Divide into six ball-like portions and form patties, without pressing too hard. They should be uniform in thickness. Make these right before you grill them, so they stay at room temperature.
Preheat your grill and add patties. Cover with the lid.
Cook until the crust that forms on the bottom of the burger releases it from the pan or grate, about 2 minutes.
When burgers lift up easily, flip, and add 1-2 slices of cheese. Close the lid if using a grill, and cook for another 2-3 minutes for medium to medium-rare.
Remove burgers with a sturdy metal spatula and transfer them to a plate. Allow to cool for a few minutes, then transfer to buns. Garnish as desired and serve immediately.
Grilled BBQ Chicken
The ingredients needed for six people are:
• 1 whole chicken cut into pieces (3-4 pounds).
• 2 tablespoons of olive or sunflower oil.
• Salt & pepper to flavor.
• 2 cups of BBQ sauce.
First, preheat the grill to medium heat.
Rub chicken with oil and season with salt & pepper for flavor.
Cook chicken skin side down on an oiled grate for 15 minutes. Turn over and brush with BBQ sauce. Cook for an additional 20-30 minutes continuing to brush with sauce.
Let meat cool for 5 minutes before serving.
The ingredients you need are:
• 6 yellow corn.
• softened yellow butter.
• salt and pepper.
Preheat the grill to medium heat.
Remove husks and silk from corn and brush each piece with a stick of butter.
Place corn directly on the grill and cook for 10 to15 minutes turning occasionally.
Remove from the grill, sprinkle with salt & pepper for extra flavoring, and serve.
Easier, faster and yummier is impossible! Happy Fourth of July everyone!
