tourism rates in the countryside

Costa Rica staff To increase tourism during the summer season in the countryside, the tourism chambers of Turrialba, Los Santos, Monteverde and Sarapiquí cantons launched the campaign “This summer smells like mountains.” In these four cantons, the tour operators are offering discounts on activities such as walking tours within national parks or nature reserves, rafting, canopy, biking, among others. According to Kevin Fallas, representative of the Los Santos Chamber of Tourism, the goal of the campaign is to offer alternative destinations and show that in the mountains people can enjoy summer with adventure and relaxation activities as well. Hotels and restaurants serving traditional food are very diverse in these four cantons, for example, the area of Los Santos is famous for the quality of its coffee, and Turrialba is famous for its white cheese that is produced in that canton. In each place, tour companies are offering discounts on hotels of 25% to 30%. Restaurants and transport services are offering discounts from 20% to 40%, reported the Institute of Tourism.
