The Costa Rica surfers team made up of 21 athletes competed in the Latin American Surf Fest organized by the Guatemalan Surf Association in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Independence of the Central American countries.

The competition is taking place on the Hawaii Beach, in the department of Santa Rosa, on the Pacific Coast of the country.

According to the Costa Rican Surf Federation, an extensive list of Costa Ricans are competing in the Open, Junior, Longboard, Bodyboard and StandUp Paddle races, both in Men and Women groups.







Among the Ticos who managed to reach the semi final competitions were Isac Aguero, Axel Castro, Oscar Urbina, Dorian Torres, Cedric MacCrakin, Keylor Molina, Samuel Reidy, Darshan Antequera, Tosh Talbot, Maykol Alvarez, Rachel Aguero, Ryan Castillo, Indiana Ferri, John Montiel, Jeffrey Dixon and Richard Marin.

According to the organizers, the festival brought together the best surfers in America, among them from El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina.  The announcement of the winners in the competition will be published today on the association website.

All athletes, the coaching staff and the public had to comply with the well-known health guidelines to avoid the spread of covid-19, the Guatemalan association added.







Hawaii Beach, whose name was given more than 60 years ago by the similarity of the area with the volcanic archipelago of the United States located in the central Pacific Ocean.
