Costa Rican photographer recognized in an international art contest
By the A.M. Costa Rica staff
On Wednesday, the U.S. Engage Art Contest recognized to the Costa Rican photographer Maria Andrea Diaz-Perazache, under the category of " honorable mention" of the winners of the 2020 Visual Art prize.
The photo selected by the judges was taken in Costa Rica, in the “March for Jesus” march for life.
"This lady met this homeless in the crowd and approached him and said she wanted to pray for him," explains Diaz about the background story of the photo. " The man began to cry. I was right there at the right time. Street photo is what I love the most."
According to Diaz, daily life is a battle, and we all wage it in different ways.
This image shows the very action for which we have been called, to help our neighbor, lift him up, heal his wounds because they do not have the armor that God gives us, added Diaz.
The art firm announces its winning artists for their 2019-2020 contest, featured four categories, Visual Art, Music Video, Film and Performing Arts.
According to the organizers they got more than 1,000 submissions from 24 countries. "Each category was juried blind by a panel of experts in that field of the arts."
The topic of this contest is the Spiritual Battle with each artist asked to explore this spiritual dynamic from their viewpoint. In truth, the theme is universally relevant and evergreen, and it provides fodder for a broad array of artistic response, said the organizers in its statement.

The final $100,000 prize winner of 2020 was Steve A. Prince, from Virginia State of the U.S. with his drawn title Armor of God: Equipping Ourselves to do Social Justice.
The full list of other winners and mentions can be reached at Engage Art web page.
The organization will soon enable the new 2020-2021 art contest.
