Costa Rican athletes are allowed

Costa Rica staff The recently approved guideline to allow athletes to represent the country in international events or competitions, during the covid-19 pandemic, guarantees the safety of members of sports delegations, the Ministry of Sports announced. According to Minister HernĂ¡n Solano- Venegas, the new guideline also applies to foreign athletes and their staff, who must comply with sanitary measures during the sports activity developed in the country. Otherwise, the sporting event may be suspended. Among other measures, the health guide includes requirements for the entry and exit of delegations during their stay in the country, the competition, and accommodation, among others. This guideline will be of help to Costa Rican athletes who continue in their preparation process to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, as well as other international sports activities that are scheduled for next year. However, according to Solano this guideline only applies to when athletes must leave or enter the country by air. Among the main rules included in the guideline for athletes are: Coordination. Sports federations and associations must coordinate previously with the Ministry of Health on the visit of international delegations. Cleaning. There must be constant cleaning and disinfection of facilities, sports equipment, uniforms, among others. Lodging. The members of the delegation are prohibited from leaving the hotel facilities to carry out activities that are not part of the competition. Competitions. Sports competitions will be held behind closed doors. No public allowed. Athletes can remove masks during competitions. Health check. Sports federations and associations are responsible for establishing control of athletes' health.
