The Costa Rica team is made up of nine athletes to compete in the Paralympic World Games, held from today Aug. 24 to Sept. 5.

The Opening Ceremony will be held today at the Olympic Stadium, which hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, which were postponed from last year because of the pandemic. The ceremony takes place from 5-8 a.m. Costa Rican time.

According to the National Olympic Committee, the athletes will compete on the following dates:

- The first will be Steven Román in table tennis who competes today at 8 p.m.

- Camila Hasse for swimming will compete tomorrow Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m.

- Diego Quesada in archery will compete on Thursday, Aug. 26 at 11 p.m. Also, that day José Pablo Gil will compete in tennis at 8 p.m.

- Sherman Guity will compete on Sunday, Aug. 29th at 4 a.m.

- Henry Raabe for cycling will compete on Monday, Aug. 30 at 10:30 p.m. Also, the same day two Costa Ricans will compete in athletics, Melissa Calvo and Ernesto Fonseca at 6:30 p.m.

- Andres Molina in taekwondo will compete on Friday, Sep. 3 at 7 p.m.

In Costa Rica, all athletes were vaccinated against covid-19 since June with a donation of vaccines by Pfizer Costa Rica.

The Tokyo Games are broadcasted today by international channels such as Fox Sports, ESPN, Sky Sports and Sport +, among others.

In Costa Rica, the games will be broadcast on local channel 6. Tico performances will be released on channels 7 and 13 (the official government channel).




 
Last month, 15 Costa Rican athletes for the Tokyo Olympics Games managed to improve their own personal records, but without winning any medals.
