As of Tuesday, a total of  2,150,520 vaccines against covid-19 have been applied, reaching a national vaccination rate of  41.7 per 100 inhabitants, according to the statistics from the Vaccine National Information System.

Of these, there are 1,409,778 people that have received their first dose. And 740,742 people have completed their two-dose treatment.

The country continues inoculating the High-Risk population, such as Elderly folks living in nursing homes, Healthcare workers, firefighters, police officers, people over the age of 58, people over the age of 12 with certain health conditions (hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, chronic respiratory disease, chronic kidney disease, obesity, cancer, among others).

There is no vaccination scheduled for people not listed in any of the groups previously mentioned,  which includes the rest of the population (Costa Rican and expat residents).

Those living in Costa Rica, but not born in the country, must have a residency ID, known as DIMEX, specific for immigrants with resident status to register for the vaccine. Expat residents must also visit the local community clinic, known as Ebais, to be listed as a candidate for getting the treatment.

To get listed, expats must provide a copy of the DIMEX and one utility bill to verify the person's home address. Country residency verification is a requirement to find the specific public clinic where the person must be attended.

Once verified by Ebais, expats must request to the clinic's staff to be placed on the list of vaccination against covid-19. Then clinic staff will provide the vaccine date.

So far, Costa Rica has imported 2,511,645 vaccines against covid-19, according to the National Emergency Commission updated report.

The Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday a total of 75,650 active covid-19 cases in the country. Of the total  345,312 cases detected since last year, 4,407 deaths were listed as covid-19 related, approximately 1.3% death rate in Costa Rica.

Worldwide the pandemic has killed more than 3.8 million people, according to Johns Hopkins University.
