The country was recognized for the development of three population skills: science, business, and technology in the Global Skills Report 2021 made by the international online learning platform Coursera.
According to the report, the country ranks 68 in the global ranking and the best 4 of Latin America & the Caribbean, on different categories representing the skill levels of the countries. For example, Costa Rica’s data science is ranked as a competitive skill, while technology, as an emerging skill.
“Costa Rica added technology to its traditional agriculture-based economy. The country experienced growth in biotech and green tech sectors,” Crusera said in its statement. "This pattern will be seen across the region as mineral-rich countries invest in new capabilities and services to complement their natural resources.”
According to Coursera, for the Global Skills Report 2021, there were 77 million learners who registered on its platform, 4,000 campuses, 2,000 businesses, and over 100 governments to reveal entry-level career paths.
Last year, Coursera offered 50,000 people online training scholarships for those unemployed due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19. Of these, over 23,000 enrolled learners completed 40,000 courses within 500,000 logged learning hours, Coursera said.

Recently, Costa Rica was recognized in the Greenfield Performance Index by the international magazine fDi Intelligence.
