Costa Rica’s largest flag
waves in Jacó Beach

Measuring 19.1 meters long, 8.9 meters high and a total surface area of 170 m² of polyester fabric, the country's largest flag was placed in Jacó Beach, Puntarenas Province as another attraction for tourists.
According to the Tourism Institute, the flag installed by the Rainforest Adventures company weighs around 45 kilos and was placed suspended with a horizontal steel cable line in the middle of the tropical forest.
“This flag symbolizes hope and the illusion of a better future for tourism and the country in these difficult times, but also reminds us of the unique resilience of our sector, which despite the adversity, knows how to get up and get ahead,” Nicolás Staton, general manager of the tourism company said.
To reach the flag, tourists must take a cable car that leads to a landscape view zone. But visitors can also enter the park to hike through the tropical forest and reach a viewpoint to the Pacific Ocean.
At just seven meters above sea level, the city of Jaco Beach is one of the favorite places for tourists due to its proximity to San José Province, at only 99 kilometers away, approximately an hour and a half from the city.
The famous four-kilometer curve-shaped beach is bordered by hills. Top tourist activities are surfing, horse riding along the beach, mountain biking, scooter rides and even go-carting.
