More than 20 countries, including Costa Rica, have totally or partially eliminated restrictions for vaccinated travelers, according to data compiled by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which indicates that inoculated passengers are no longer subject to quarantine measures. Among the countries to first lift the quarantine requirement for those fully vaccinated are: Costa Rica, United States, U.K., Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Korea, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania, Maldives, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Samoa, Slovakia and Slovenia among others. The British government announced that as of August, travelers inoculated with vaccines approved by the United States and the EU will not have to quarantine upon arrival on British territory. According to the British Minister of Transport, the goal is to boost the tourism industry. In the U.S. the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that people who have been vaccinated can travel within the United States without having to present a negative covid-19 test or implement a subsequent quarantine. The Netherlands will not apply the mandatory quarantine in the Dutch territory as long as the tourist is fully vaccinated with a vaccine card or has a negative covid test. According to the French Embassy in Costa Rica, France's government allows unrestricted entry to fully vaccinated people. They will also not have to comply with a 10-day quarantine. In Costa Rica, tourists fully vaccinated against covid-19 are also allowed to enter without the required travel insurance. But it depends on the vaccine. According to the Institute of Tourism, tourists who are fully vaccinated with Moderna, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson can enter the country without travel insurance requirements. The last dose of the vaccine must have been applied at least 14 days before arrival in Costa Rica. All tourists entering the country must fill-out the online Health Pass. And if your fully vaccinated, they need proof with a vaccination certificate or vaccination cards that includes the following information: - Name of the person who received the vaccine. - Date of each dose. - Pharmaceutical house. - In the case of U.S. citizens or travelers vaccinated in the U.S., the "Covid-19 vaccination record card" will be accepted. Costa Rica does not require coronavirus detection tests, nor mandatory quarantine. Tourists under the age of 18 can enter the country without a travel insurance policy. Unlike fully vaccinated people who do not require travel insurance to enter the country, tourists who are not vaccinated or with incomplete vaccine doses or vaccinated with a treatment different than the one previously listed, they must have a travel insurance policy upon entering Costa Rica. Otherwise they won’t be able to access the country. Provide proof of a valid Traveler's Insurance, not expiring during the time of stay in the country. This can be purchased in the country of departure or Costa Rica. Tourists must show proof by requesting a certificate issued in English or Spanish from their insurance provider that guarantees coverage for medical expenses in cases of covid-19 infection while in Costa Rica, for at least $50,000. And minimum coverage of $2,000 for accommodation expenses extended, in case of being infected with covid-19. The valid insurance document must also be uploaded onto the same online Health Pass. Tourists should double-check the entry requirements by contacting their local Costa Rican embassy or consular representation before planning a trip to Costa Rica. According to the statistics of the Tourism Institute, in the first six months of this year, from January to June, Costa Rica recovered 50% of the tourism market from the United States, compared to the same period in 2019, before the pandemic. In that period, the country registered a total of 362,435 visitors from the U.S. In the same period, before the pandemic, 734,509 tourists from the U.S. had entered. ------------- What have you heard about expats not vaccinated yet facing issues to enter Costa Rica?
