Costa Rica hosts Services Summit 2020By the A.M. Costa Rica staff The 10th edition of the Services Summit 2020 began Tuesday with the participation of 200 Costa Rican exporters and 100 buyers from 20 countries. The event is taking place at the Convention Center in Heredia. According to Costa Rica's Export Promotion Agency, PROCOMER, at the Summit are participating companies from education, fashion, biotechnology, design, green technologies, audiovisual production and information technologies. Among the main activities of the Summit are business meetings where more than 1,000 appointments are being held between Costa Rican exporters and potential international buyers, said PROCOMER. According to the organization, the Summit represents a world showcase to expose the world-class talent, innovation and technologies that are being worked on in Costa Rica. According to the statistics, in 2019, the services sector generated 45% of the country's total exports. This 10th edition of the Summit has the participation of international companies such as Siman Stores of El Salvador, Coca Cola Bottlers of Puerto Rico, Bel Air University of Israel, Boombit of Poland, Microsoft of the U.S., among others. According to the statistics provided by the agency, at the Summit there are 100 international companies from 20 countries.  Last week medical device companies in Costa Rica were participating in the Medical Design & Manufacturing West 2020, in Anaheim, California. According to the Costa Rican Development Initiatives Coalition, this fair was one of the largest expo in the manufacturing sector with at least 20,000 representatives of the world's leading medical device manufacturing companies. ATL Technology, Automatización Avanzada S.A., Microtechnologies, Precision and Medical Components and Precision Concepts were the companies that are displayed at the Costa Rican stand. These companies offered products and services such as manufacturing of medical device components, plastic injection, plasma-based technologies, precision engineering and robotics, among others. During the fair, executives of the international medical device firms were invited to install facilities in Costa Rica in industrial zones such as Coyol Free Zone in Alajuela or La Lima Free Zone in Cartago. According to PROCOMER statistics, the medical sector is one of the main exporters of goods. In 2019, it exported $3.6 billion, 12% more than in 2018. ------------------------------ What other economic sector companies could the organization promote?
